The Warlord tree skills primarily focus on your hero damage. Investing your skill points here will skyrocket your idle damage and make tapping a thing of the past. Apart from hero damage the skill tree also focuses on your clan ship’s damage and the ability to increase your hero damage by tapping.

The aim of this guide series is to tell you everything you need to know about the various skill trees. So you can know what’s the best skill to dump your newly acquired skill points in for maximum progression.

Due to the way tournaments work in Tap Titans 2 now, there’s no longer an incentive to hold yourself back and avoid progressing past certain walls. It’s all about pushing now. Check out our tournament guide for more information about those. But let us begin this guide with a quick overview of all the Warlord skills.

The Warlord Tree

Master Commander

The Master Commander skill tree directly increases all of your hero damage, clan ship damage and clan mate damage.

This is the first skill that new players should consider investing in if they’re interested in passive gameplay.


Spoils of War

Even though the skill’s numbers only point to gold from Chesterson, this multiplier also affects gold earned by fairy chests, splash overkils, the perks and clan gold crates.

Spoils of war is not a good investment for new players because it needs a lot of skill points to be worth the investment.

Heroic Might

Investing skill points in Heroic Might directly boosts your War Cry skill. Every level also increases the total number of heroes which get inspired by activating War Cry.

An inspired hero does damage based on your total hero damage, multiplied by the War Cry multiplier.

In a nutshell, your inspired heroes do a damage based on your highest damage hero (because all the other heroes’ damage is insignificant).

Aerial Assault

Aerial Assault directly increases the damage dealt by your clan ship. It also increases the total maximum number of monsters your clan ship can splash through.

Yes. This skill also increases the damage dealt by your summoned clan mates.

Tactical Insight

Perhaps one of the most underrated bonus at first glance, Tactical Insight is a very good investment once you have access to most of the heroes in the game.

The skill does increase both multiplicative and additive bonuses. Increasing multiplicative bonuses can really mean a lot though.

We’ll talk more about later on this article though

Searing Light

Searing Light works directly with War Cry. It gives your inspired heroes the ability to weaken monsters. Amplifying the damage dealt by your heroes and clan ship.

It’s a lot less effective for other damage sources such as pet damage and tap damage.

This skill also increases the duration of War Cry itself.

Coordinated Offensive

This skill gives you the ability to tap a silhouette that appears next to your hero. Doing so summons a clan mate to help fight alongside your hero.

Your clan mate’s damage depends on your clan ship’s damage but while active, it also increases all of the damage dealt by your heroes as well.

Astral Awakening

One of the many underrated skills in the game. Astral Awakening can increase your hero damage by a significant margin.

The skill can be activated by clicking on the orbs, a total of five orbs can be tapped, each tap increasing your hero damage for 40 seconds.

The skill’s cooldown begins once you have tapped the final orb.

Anchoring Shot

This skill modifies your clan ship damage and gives them a stunning effect. Stunning a boss will stop its timer from going down where as almost every damage against the titan will be amplified by the Stun Damage multiplier.

This can definitely help you kill a few extra bosses near your wall so don’t disregard it that easily.

The Basic Guide to Warlord Builds

All of the Warlord Skills can significantly boost your progression and help you break walls which you were stuck on. Pretty much all the skills also scale off of your hero damage multipliers, or boost them in one way or another.

These are exactly the reasons why the Warlord skill tree is considered a very noob-friendly investment. Your first few skill points should definitely go here if not in the Knight (Red) tree and only after you’re happy with your pace of progression should you consider investing in Sorcerer (Blue) or Rogue (Green).

So let us get on with the basic FAQ.

how good is Tactical Insight?

Multiplicative bonuses are good.

We had a lot of complicated math in this section but it turns out we were wrong with some of the numbers, it still doesn’t change the fact that whatever you can do to increase your bonuses = good.

Why on earth is hero damage so important anyway?

It depends almost entirely on how you wish to play Tap Titans 2, but even if you wish to tap your way through the game, Hero Damage is always going to be a huge factor for progression.

Yes, having powerful tap damage will help you break more walls, but when it comes to finishing your runs as fast as possible, it’s all about the passive damage. Being able to just sit your phone idle while it climbs up thousands of stages for you? That’s the dream.

The basics of any Warlord tree

When it comes to maximizing your bonuses and multipliers, the warlord tree offers you several different ways of doing so. Skills like Tactical Insight and Heroic Might are highly underrated. It’s almost always better to invest in these as soon as possible and then worry about your actual Hero Damage multipliers.

The basic thing you need to remember while working on a build in Tap Titans 2 is how multiplicative bonuses work. This is also very important when pets get involved but for now, let us focus on heroes. Let’s keep the numbers easy, you have two multiplicative bonuses, x5 and x10. Your total bonus is going to be x50.

You also have enough skill points to increase either of them by 2, so you can either have an x7 bonus or an x12 bonus while the other remains the same. There are two scenarios:

  • 5x and 12x will give us x60
  • 7x and 10x will give us x70

Ideal case scenario? You want both the numbers to be as close to each other as possible. This is why there’s no point in only investing in Master Commander, You can more than double your hero damage by investing a single skill point in Heroic Might, provided that War Cry is activated of course.
