Crafting shards are very important in Tap Titans 2 because they allow you to craft a specific equipment that you might be interested in. This allows you to stop depending on RNG for your equipment drops. As more often than not, we keep getting the same equipment pieces over and over again.
Completing equipment sets is very important for endgame progression and you’ll often find yourself saving crafting shards to complete a specific set. Some of the cheaper sets also give significant bonuses to your heroes so it’s always a good idea to take a look at everything you can purchase.
Remember that during events and holidays there will be limited sets that you can earn through regular gameplay. Completing these is important because they can’t be earned again once the event is over. Meaning that you’re missing out on permanent bonuses that regular players will have, but you won’t.
Before fully completing a set, you can only craft items that you haven’t collected yet. This means that you won’t waste shards on items you already have.
If you wish to optimize and min-max, feel free to ignore the sets that won’t help you with progression. The total gold you get, and your heroes’ damages should be your primary focus. Everything else can wait.
Through proper usage of your skill trees, you can get multiple heroes to be as strong as your highest one. So there’s no need to worry about min-maxing between melee/ranged/spell damage.
